Get the Perfect Fit: How to Measure Your Child's Inseam for a Bike

Here at Ready Set Pedal, we know finding the right-sized bike for your child is crucial for a safe and enjoyable riding experience. One of the most important measurements to consider is your child's inseam, which helps determine how comfortably they can straddle the bike frame.

Ready to grab your measuring tape? Here's a simple guide to measuring your child's inseam:

    1. Dress for Success: Have your child stand up straight against a wall wearing the shoes they'll typically wear when riding. If they have any riding pants with padding, it's helpful to have them wear those as well. This ensures the inseam measurement reflects the position they'll be in on the bike.

    1. Book It: Take a hardcover book and place the spine of the book (the long, hard edge) flush against your child's crotch. Hold the book level, mimicking the slight pressure a bike saddle might apply.

    1. Mark the Spot: Using a pencil, carefully mark the spot on the wall where the top edge of the book meets the wall.

    1. Measure Up: Now comes the easy part! Grab a measuring tape or ruler and measure the distance from the floor to the mark you made on the wall. This distance, in inches, is your child's inseam measurement.

Remember: A snug fit is ideal, but your child should be able to comfortably touch the ground with both feet while seated on the bike. Our friendly staff at Ready Set Pedal is always happy to help you find the perfect sized bike for your child's inseam and riding style.
